The Accountability Lab makes governance work for people. We are catalyzing a new generation of active citizens and responsible leaders around the world by supporting change-makers to develop and implement positive ideas for integrity in their communities. By enabling people to generate the knowledge, skills and networks needed for accountability, we unleash positive social and economic change.
The Lab’s nonprofit management remote internship program aims to support the Global team’s efforts to improve our systems, manage projects and processes, and ensure that the Lab collects and uses all of the data and information it needs to grow and improve. The non-profit management remote intern will aid global and country program staff (DRC, Liberia, Mali, Mexico, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somaliland, South Africa, and Zimbabwe) through administrative, operational, research, and programmatic support.
Duration: 20-40 hours per week (depending on whether you prefer a part-time or full-time experience) for at least 12 weeks
Location: Remote
Roles and responsibilities:
Stipend: $500 per month
Administration and Operations
- Maintain an annotated bibliography summarizing the Lab’s collection of academic and sector resources;
- Update team organograms and gather information for staff profiles on the website;
- Complete a variety of general administrative and operational duties including, but not limited to: taking team meeting notes, attending virtual events and webinars, maintaining Google Drive filing systems, and more.
Programming
- Maintain Google Maps of program participants across countries;
- Use Canva to create one-pagers for accountability entrepreneurs;
- Update the master list for program participants.
Research and Writing
- Research potential funders for the grants dashboard;
- Complete desk research requests as needed by the global team; * Copyedit reports, agendas, presentations, blogs, and other documents; * Write a blog at the end of your internship experience.
Candidate requirements:
- Current or recent undergraduate or graduate student with a personal computer and reliable internet;
- Intense sense of discipline and self-management (experience with remote work/volunteering a plus);
- Highly organized, able to set priorities and manage multiple tasks;
- Comfortable with ambiguity and can handle the unexpected with flexibility;
- Motivated, proactive, self-directed problem solver; must be comfortable managing shifting roles and responsibilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for editing; * Ability to speak, write, and/or edit in French will be a heavily considered asset; * In-country experience in the countries where we work will be considered an asset.
