Disinformation, Fake News and Integrity Icon

The world was a different place when we launched our Integrity Icon campaign five years ago. If we think of changes in everything from political leadership to cultural or social trends - the things we were supporting, reading or listening to in 2014 are probably not the same today. Integrity Icon was even known as Integrity Idol - and functioned in a different space.  These trends have been top-of-mind for us due to recent incidents that have tested the Lab’s processes. By Global Communications Director Sheena Adams   The Integrity Icon campaign begins with public nominations early in the year and [...]

“We Have the Power” to Reform Our Electoral Laws

“We can all say there is a need to have more women in the electoral process; we want to have more women in leadership; we think women can do better,” said iCampus Manager Luther Jeke. But the question is, how do you get more people to hear what you say? That’s where Rap2Rep, a music competition run in partnership with Accountability Lab and iLab Liberia, comes in. The first panel (1.30pm SAST, CTICC2, xChange) looks at innovative tech solutions to prevent, detect and prosecute corruption, and increase transparency. It was an uphill battle of finding herself and pursuing her dreams. These painful experiences are what fuelled her struggle and [...]

Building Reel Peace in Liberia

In a small, flexible organization staffed by individuals who are mission-driven, it’s not uncommon to conceptualize programs that can be ambitious. We hope to succeed and deliver programming and results that make us proud, but along the line, it’s also important to reflect on challenges, and even failures, that come with ambitious projects. Cheri-Leigh Erasmus, Global Director of Learning at the Lab, takes a closer look Over the last fifteen months, Accountability Lab Liberia [...]
