NIGERIA

Accountability Lab Nigeria works out of a bustling office in Abuja.

Integrity Icon: A campaign to find, celebrate and support honest government officials to change the narrative around corruption and build coalitions for reform. The 2022 Integrity Icons were unveiled and they are Charles Enuma, Innocent Ayabotu, Mohammed Babayola, Mwalin Abdu, and Victoria Barnabas who work across the sectors of procurement, justice and law enforcement.

Accountability Incubator: Accountability Lab’s flagship program for young change-makers to build sustainable, effective tools for change. For our 2023 cohort we are recruiting young civil society leaders with the best ideas ideas under the theme of “Global Challenges, Local Solutions”. Projects fall under one of four sub-themes including participation, inclusion, digital governance or environmental accountability.

Voice2Rep: A first-of-its-kind music competition searching for underground and undiscovered music artists who support greater representation, participation and accountability across Nigeria. It gives rising stars a platform to make their voices heard, connect with socially-conscious leaders in the music industry, and build the skills they need to shape the future of the country through music.

Civic Action Teams: A pioneering citizen feedback, dialogue and community voice platform to ensure accountability in the development process. The program seeks to ensure that everyone understands how and when development will take place, building accountability into local decision making in real-time, and closing the feedback loop between citizens, governments, the media and the private sector.

SDG16: A national competition to support young leaders to craft innovative and sustainable solutions to challenges related to SDG16. The focus of the first edition was on ideas around open government and transparency and especially targeted young men and women aged 15 to 35 interested in developing ideas and building skills around accountability, the rule of law and access to justice for Nigerians.
