Accountability Lab Wins the SXSW Community Service Award!

We were honored to be a winner of the SXSW Community Service Award last week in Austin, Texas. Executive Director Blair Glencorse received the award from Hugh Forrest, Director of the SXSW festival in front of several hundred social entrepreneurs, artists, film-makers, journalists and other members of the SXSW Community. At the event, Blair dedicated the award to the Accountability Lab’s teams around the world and the incredible people within our community who we support to build accountability in their communities: “This work is more important now than it has ever been” he said: “It fills me with great pride to receive this award and we will continue to honor Dewey Winburne’s legacy through our positive, creative approaches to integrity”.

At SXSW, music, film and media communities converge from all over the world to think, design and collaborate. At the event, Blair also hosted a workshop on our approach to “naming and faming” honest government officials through Integrity Idol.

About the SXSW Community Service Award: The SXSW Community Service Awards honors Dewey Winburne, one of the original co-founders of the SXSW Interactive Festival as well as many other things in the Austin community: a family man, a teacher, a visionary, a connector, and an innovator. He believed that technology could bridge the digital divide and help those less fortunate than others. Although Winburne passed away in 1999, his legacy continues. His life exemplified how one individual can truly make an impact in their community.
