We believe that accountability is at the heart of human rights and justice, and thus we’re excited to announce that we’re in the running for two major awards in those areas.
The Human Rights Tulip is an award of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs for courageous human rights defenders who promote and support human rights in innovative ways. Winners receive a prize of €100.000 and support from Hivos in the further development of their work. The Lab is addressing human rights violations by incubating citizens’ innovative ideas for fighting corruption and building accountability in their communities using arts, media, culture and technology. Through our high-touch support for these local change-makers, we’ve impacted the lives of over 250,000 citizens—and built a community around human rights and accountability—in Nepal, Liberia and beyond. Please take a few seconds to vote for us here before the competition closes on Wednesday, September 16th!
The 2015 Innovating Justice Challenge is The Hague Institute for the Internationalism of Law (HiiL)’s sixth annual competition for the best innovations in rule of law across the world. Winners receive a prize of €20,000, international recognition, and professional support to take their work to the next level. Integrity Idol was nominated for the award, as a unique model for national dialogue around of government accountability that creates change by “naming and faming, rather than naming and shaming”. Last year, the Integrity Idol campaign in Nepal captured the attention of millions of Nepalis eager for change and sparked widespread reform in the education sector. This year, it’s being replicated in Liberia and Pakistan. Please show your support for us by voting here before Thursday, September 17th!
