Process
Accountability Lab was founded to support and connect people demanding better governance solutions for service delivery and accountability challenges in their communities
Today, we use our platforms and proximity to amplify the voices, skills, and resources of local activists, journalists, artists, and organizers working to hold people in power to account.
Some of the tools we rolled out 14 years ago are still going strong today - documentary film and music campaigns to name and fame exemplary leaders, and community data collection on public services, for example. Other tools have evolved in different contexts, aimed at sharing the information communities need to advocate for change in creative ways. An incubator for activists and social accountability innovators to build tools that keep communities engaged with critical service delivery and governance issues has helped us create a stackable training curriculum to embed accountable leadership.
We are motivated by a world in which resources are used wisely, decisions benefit everyone fairly, and people lead secure lives. We therefore see accountability as a value not a theme - a way of working that infuses everything we do, and support others to do. Since our founding in 2012, we have grown into a global translocal network of Labs, building an ecosystem for accountability around the world.
