Voice2Rep

Voice to Represent (“Voice2Rep”) is a campaign that supports conscious music artists using their art to talk about participation and accountability. It is active in Liberia, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe. The program gives rising stars a platform to make their voices heard, connect with socially-conscious leaders in the music industry, and build the skills they need to shape the future of their country through music.

Participants are trained on lyrics, style, and performance as well as advocacy for accountability, good governance and political engagement. Our artists have recorded music about critical accountability issues including gender-based violence, displacement and election integrity.

Voice2Rep Winners

In Liberia and Nigeria, our AL teams host studios and music hubs which function as creative spaces for artists to have positive conversations, build networks, collaborate and record new music. Artists have used their music in creative ways, from calling for better services in Zimbabwe to mobilizing millions of young people to register to vote in Nigeria.
