Who we are
Accountability Lab began almost 15 years ago as an effort to support local change-makers within specific communities to develop creative ideas around governance issues. We have grown into a global translocal network of Labs that is supporting an ecosystem for accountability around the world.
Timeline
Our journey through the years
2012
Accountability Lab is founded in Nepal and registered in Kathmandu and Washington DC. Our Accountability Incubator to support the capacity and growth of local civic activists launches in Nepal.
2013
Accountability Lab Liberia is registered in Monrovia and launches a second Accountability Incubator.
2014
Accountability Lab is founded in Nepal and registered in Kathmandu and Washington DC. Our Accountability Incubator to support the capacity and growth of local civic activists launches in Nepal.
2015
Accountability Lab is founded in Nepal and registered in Kathmandu and Washington DC. Our Accountability Incubator to support the capacity and growth of local civic activists launches in Nepal.
2016
Accountability Lab Mali and Accountability Lab Pakistan are registered with two more Integrity Icon campaigns. Our Incubator begins in Liberia and Pakistan.
2017
The organization begins a community monitoring initiative in Ghana, promoting transparency in local governance.
2018
Expanding into Nepal, the Accountability Lab implements projects aimed at enhancing civic participation.
2019
The Lab's innovative idea of ‘Integrity Idol’ is introduced in multiple countries, celebrating public servants who exemplify integrity.
2020
Despite the pandemic, the Accountability Lab successfully transitions to virtual engagement programs to support youth in civic leadership.
2021
The organization releases a comprehensive report on the impact of youth engagement in governance across its operational countries.
2022
The Accountability Lab partners with local NGOs to enhance anti-corruption efforts in fragile states.
2023
Launching new digital platforms, the Lab enhances transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
2024
The organization expands its research initiatives, studying the relationship between youth engagement and democratic resilience.
2025
The Accountability Lab celebrates a decade of impactful work, launching a global campaign to inspire young leaders worldwide.
